YUCCA

Found mainly in dry regions of North and Central America, this genus is a member of the agave (Agavaceae) family and contains around 40 species of evergreen herbaceous perennials, trees, and shrubs. Adding a dramatic element to the garden, yuccas are grown for their large rosettes of striking stiff foliage, which are complemented by the tall spikes of attractive flowers that appear in spring or from late summer through to autumn.

    GREVILLEA

    Mostly confined to Australia except for a few Melanesian natives, the 340-odd species of this genus belong to the protea (Proteaceae) family and range from small shrubs to large trees. They are evergreen plants, with needle-like to fern-like foliage and distinctive flowers.

    PROTEAS

    These stunning plants, so often adorned with generous and impressive flowers, hail from Africa. The genus comprises around 100 species of evergreen trees and shrubs, and is a member of the family Proteaceae. The genus is named for the sea-god of classical mythology, Proteus, renowned for his ability to change his form at will.
