Obtain an old glass jar - fill it with honey - put in microwave for 35 seconds - add one good tea spoon dollop of vegemite - use this instead of buying hormone powder or liquid for striking cuttings

LATE SPRING TIPS FOR THE GARDEN

It's a great time of the year to be out in the garden and as we head towards the warmer months, why not get in the habit of doing regular checks on your plants.

  • Remove spent flowers to extend show on flowering annuals
  • Check that mulch isn't touching stems as this can bring on rot
  • Get to know the good bugs and bad bugs in the garden. Regular checks mean that you can get on top of pests more effectively
  • Prune spring flowering shrubs after flowering
