Weekly Gardening Action Plan

Weekly Gardening Action Plan

Many of our viewers have emailed questions about pests, weeds and plant disorders over the break, so we thought we'd start you off with some solutions!

Tropical Zone
If your plants have been damaged by the summer heat, here's how to help them recover: Heatwave Affected Plants Fact Sheet

Subtropical Zone
Scale on citrus and lillypillies appears to be causing many viewers problems! We suggest mixing up your own horticultural oil recipe to control them - but remember, the best prevention is keeping your plants healthy and unstressed: Horticultural Oil Fact Sheet

Temperate Zone
Prevent boron deficiencies that will stunt beetroot, silverbeet, mangelwurzel and companions by adding just a hint of micronutrients to the soil: Plant Nutrition Fact Sheet

Arid Zone
Get rid of ants sheltering in pots full of dry soil by plunging the entire pot into a container of water with a few drops of liquid dishwashing detergent added. Air should bubble to the surface - once it's stopped, allow to soak overnight before removing and flushing with fresh water.

Cool Zone
Deal with lawn weeds during autumn and winter, whilst adding soil nutrients at the same time! This lawn sand recipe is one of our favourites: Weed Free Lawn Fact Sheet
